New Layer is a photographic series documenting plastic bags in various stages of decomposition, scattered across urban and natural surfaces, on pavement, soil and among grass. Some have deteriorated to the point of blending into their surroundings, becoming almost invisible, as if absorbed into the landscape. The project reflects on the growing layer of plastic waste that surrounds and suffocates ecosystems worldwide. New Layer draws attention to environmental degradation as both a physical and inner condition, echoing the idea that external pollution mirrors an unconscious inner state.
